OUR STORY

Kubatsirana meaning "Helping Hands" in Shona was established in 2008, situated in Libertina Amathila street Swakopmund, Namibia. Anja Rohwer was inspired by her late mother Jutta Rohwer (Katutura Projekte) based in Windhoek followed by numerous

self-helping projects. This outlet was created upon providing small income to express their traditional skills in arts and crafts.

At Kubatsirana you will find traditional skills and indigenous materials blended to create useful materials with patterns and colours in a form of artwork. Pieces of art that have been crafted by hand and that provide a cultural link from the past to the future.

Projects supported by Kubatsirana lie on various self-helping projects situated in Windhoek and Swakopmund.

"Oasa Taradi" meaning Busy women based in Katutura, Windhoek established from late Jutta Rohwer in 1991 occupy Kubatsirana's shelves with their beautiful hand embroidered placemats, serviettes and tablecloths.
